Improving lethality for the dismounted soldier

As we enter the next decade, technology that was previously confined to mounted weapons systems is becoming small and light enough to be integrated into standard issue equipment. Airburst ammunition, night vision/IR capabilities and advanced fire control systems are all contributing to the increased lethality and flexibility of infantry troops, ensuring that soldiers can carry out the wide range of mission sets required of them in the today's complex operating environment.

DefenceIQ is delighted to announce the return of our 6th annual Infantry Weapons Conference. Building on the success of previous events in the serious, our 2012 conference provides an unrivalled opportunity to not only listen to senior military infantry commander about the future of their weapon systems, but also interact with them on a one-to-one basis.

Infantry Weapons 2012 will:

  • Assess the latest developments in man portable, shoulder launched weapon systems for use against armour and fortified positions, and how dual use warheads are helping to improve operator flexibility in the modern operating environment
  • Examine how advanced fire control systems and airburst munitions are improving the lethality of both new and currently deployed grenade launchers
  • Understand the direction of small arm modernisation programmes from around the world and apply the lessons of other nations to your own upgrade programmes
